The Jewish Hospital in Berlin-Wedding served as a holding camp and transit station for the deportation of Jewish people to concentration camps during the Nazi regime. It became a refuge for those in hiding. Until the liberation in 1945, people hid within its walls, particularly in the basement beneath building F.
On a total area of 172,316 square meters, approximately 900 individuals were concealed during the Nazi period. This corresponds to an area of 0.1914 square meters per person – roughly the size of a seat.
